Books I Recommend

I’m an avid reader. My kindle is like a security blanket, I take one everywhere. (I actually use two!) When I come across a particularly good book, I love telling people about it. So, I’m going to take this opportunity to make some recommendations.

I’m certainly no expert when it comes to critiquing books. I just know what I like, and believe when an author’s hard work results in a particularly good story, it’s worthy of lots of attention. So, here goes. Three of my favorites:

Swimming Upstream, by Ruth Mancini (link to Author Page)
The touching story of a young woman’s survival of life altering events. It's Book 1 of a two book series, but stands alone as an excellent read. Heart wrenching and emotive, it follows the path of Lizzie as she faces the repercussions of other people’s (sometimes less than honorable) actions. I loved the author’s ingenious handling of the poignant but happy ending. Well worth it!

Touched, by AJ Aalto (link to Author Page)
The journey into this Canadian author’s world of the supernatural is one wild trip! This is Book 1 of the Marnie Baranuik Series, which includes 3 volumes and 2 shorter “between the files” stories. The heroine, Marnie, is a snarky, opinionated psychic who is a “daysitter” for a revenant. (The word vampire is sooo politically incorrect!) I loved every single minute of the ride on this very entertaining train.

Raveled, by Ann McAneny (link to Author Page)
This fiction novel explores a sixteen-year-old homicide case, which just happens to closely involve Allison Fennimore's family. Her father was convicted of the murder of a teenage boy, and suspected of a subsequent murder as well. But the circumstances surrounding the death don’t add up. As Allison uncovers evidence, even more questions arise. It’s a layered and complex tale that ultimately reveals the depths of family loyalty and love. Get it!
